Alcester – Flood Water Pumping Stations, Warwickshire

Scope: Alcester has been affected by heavy rainfall in the past which becomes trapped behind the river flood defences.
The project included the construction of 2 new pumping stations and collection/weir chambers that would be fed from the existing gravity storm sewer system should the river level rise to flood level.
The reinforced concrete pump station structures were in both rural and urban locations each having temporary earthwork support systems that required detailed planning to accommodate and avoid the various statutory services.
MCC foundations, kiosks and associated ducting provided power, pump control and instrumentation monitoring for the pumped system UVPC inlet and ductile iron outlet pipe work together with reinforced concrete outfall structures and external works completed the civils scope.
