Contract Journal; Best Places to Work in Construction;

Alpha Construction were shortlisted from hundreds of applicants based on employee interviews and surveys undertaken by Contract Journal. Alpha went on to pick up the runner up prize in our category, ‘Civil Engineering Contractor’ which was eventually won by Hewlett Ltd. This was an improvement on Alpha’s 2008 short listing in which we managed 5^th place.

EMCBE Award;

Alpha’s Nestle Omni project made the shortlist for the EMCBE Construction Excellence award. Work commenced on the Omni project in May 2007 on this 4400m² building. The steel frame is externally cladded by a patent glossing system and Kalwall cladding to allow natural light into the working area. The project worth £3,400,000 has also been given recognition from Nestle UK who has awarded Alpha for their outstanding contribution to Dolce Gusto.

NCE’s Small Contractor of the Year Award;

Zero accidents is a goal aspired to by many a firm especially one with far more resources than that available to a £13M turnover contractor. This makes Alpha Construction’s performance last year clearly worthy of recognition. Certainly Managing Director Robert Smith has no hesitation in declaring its the firm’s outstanding achievement of the year.

Nestle Outstanding Contribution Award;

Alpha Construction Ltd was one of a select few of contractors who received an award for their contribution to the successful and timely completion of a multimillion pound investment at the Nestle, Tutbury Site.

RoSPA Gold Award;

For the second year running Alpha have won the RoSPA Gold Award. The RoSPA Awards are not just about reducing the number of accidents and cases of ill-health at work; they help to ensure that organisations have good health and safety management systems in place. David Rawlins, RoSPA awards manager, said: “Alpha Construction Ltd has shown a commitment to protecting the health and well-being of its employees and others”.
